We are still thinking about what we will change, but are thinking of fine tuning our recycling! Can't wait to hear what you plan to do this month! Suzy
I'd like to start supporting the farmers local to me who raise chicken, instead of buying from the grocery store. And looking for more suggestions for changes!
Here's my updated post: http://4bushelfarm.blogspot.com/2010/07/one-small-change-july-recap.html
Our change for August is to use more reusable bags in the grocery store. We have 7 right now and I plan to make a few more. We are keeping them in the car so they are handy. Trying to eliminate the use of plastic bags.
I plant on researching more on aquaponics and make a small system for my greenhouse.
I also plan on starting lots of greens (lettuce, spinach, etc) for my NFT system.
My family is trying to eliminate the use of plastic bottles as much as possible. Also SODA! I hate soda, but yet I drink 2 cans or more a day. YUCK! My wife and I need to kick the SODA habit. It's a love/hate relationship.

I was reminded by a fellow blogger this morning to buy books locally. That will be my small change for the month. I usually buy them from Amazon (in order to help our family budget) but now I will try to only buy a book if I really need to own it. If I can simply read it and let it go, then I will get it from the library.
My small change will be to pack my lunch for work in reusable containers. I will be packing my lunch 5 days/week and I would like to decrease or eliminate the waste produced from doing this.
Our one small change is actually for the summer! We will be preserving the harvest...from our garden, friends and our local farmers market. Here is my post: http://mysimpleblessedlife.blogspot.com/
We are still working on the two changes that we made in July; homemade laundry soap and cloth diapers. I am still trying to figure out how to get the tough poop and baby food stains out with natural ingredients. And the cloth diaper thing is certainly a big adjustment so I am going to count these two changes as our change for August as well. But we already have been brainstorming about the changes that we are going to be making all throughout the Fall!
We are purging our lives of all of the stuff, stuff, stuff that we've accumulated, passing it all off to others who may need it, organizing what is left, and becoming more mindful about what we purchase in the future. http://selfcreatingart.blogspot.com/2010/08/one-small-change-challenge-august.html
Hopefully we will have a new compost heap by months end! Also this month I'll begin using a moon cup. I also bought biodegradable dish liquid and counter cleaner.. and when school opens we are going for a trash free lunch system!
